I have the same problem with missing bottom bar on My iPad… The bar is still present on My iPhone though… (both devices are running iOS5)
This is really annoying :(

You may also want to try this http://www.ammyy.com or http://mikoqo.com
The first Ammyy Admin v3 is a bit easier as it doesn't require installation, registration
and specific settings adjustments. It works behind gateways NAT without port mapping.
Good alternative though.
