As if the 2007 refresh wasn't delayed long enough, the 2009 mini surfaced without much fanfare from an 18-month hiatus. But the improvements in this iteration were worth such a long wait. Included within are innovations from the 2008 revamp of Apple's notebook lines. This particular mini welcomed Intel's latest microarchitecture on a high-performance NVIDIA MCP logic set—the first such melding for Apple. And at last, the perpetually-underrated cuboid was a competent gaming machine and much more than its frame would let on. Further, it gained an extra USB port by way of substituting Mini DisplayPort for the chunkier DVI port of previous models and ratcheting FireWire speeds to 800 MT/s.
