The Early 2008 MacBooks were speed-bumped versions of the Late 2007 models they replaced, incorporating the 45-nm "Penryn" Core2 Duo processors with 3 MB of Level 2 cache instead of the prior 4 MB. All other specs remained identical to prior models, but these models were effectively faster despite the downscaling of CPU cache.

The standard white models offered for this generation continued through year's end and beyond. The premium black models, however, are the last to be available in that color to date, having been discontinued upon the arrival of the Late 2008 Aluminum model.
