The player (latest version as of August 21st, 2011) does install, but does not show up as installed in Safari.

It shows up as installed in Safari under Snow Leopard. Besides it not "showing up" as installed in Safari under Lion, does it at least work?

Not here. The installation process goes fine, but after, nothing. It is just as if it was never installed.

Same here. Installed Unity Player for Mac OS X Lion and it was able to start up but then I only receive audio, video goes black.
