6-28-2013 — version 2.0.3 is downloading from Audacity web site for 10.4 and above.

0n April 2012, last version of Audacity® is 2.0.0.0. Replacing prior versions. It comes from the version number 1.3.14, but is not a beta version, and it has important optimization from 1.2.6 version. Enjoy the new features of the application.

From the Developer to me: OSX 10.4 or later is supported, so this includes "Snow Leopard" and "Lion".

See http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html

for how to add the LAME MP3 encoder and FFmpeg library (for import and export of extra formats).

AAC import is supported as shipped. Add FFmpeg (link in the Notes) to export AAC.

If anyone is having export issues, try 2.0.0 released in March 2012.

When you try to only export the selected part, Audacity still exports the whole file.

Running Lion on a 2011 MacBook Pro 15". Tried Audacity ver 1.2.5 and exported a selection to .wav without issue.

DO NOT use Audacity 1.2.5. The Audacity team officially says it doesn't support the latest OS X's. Use Audacity 1.3.13 (beta) instead. It's more stable anyway.

Audacity does NOT work well with OS 7, unless you don't care to export your Audacity file in a format other than Audacity's. When ever I tried to save, or export, a file as an .mp3 or .wav or .aif, it wouldn't let me, and I've tried with the latest (beta) version.
