DiskTools Pro makes Mac repair and maintenance painless, fast and easy. DiskTools Pro is the only utility software that allows you to schedule when to defragment, backup or repair bad sectors of your Mac. Furthermore, it doesn't require you to run the tools from a boot DVD, CD or separate volumes in order to fix the startup volume. Use DiskTools Pro to defragment, repair volumes, scan and repair bad sectors, create bootable backups, monitor S.M.A.R.T. status, benchmark your Mac, test disk integrity, analyze drive capacity to free space on your Mac, and more.

I have DiskTools Pro and have been using it since 10.7 on Mountain Lion (10.8). The system has not caused any problems with running this software.

Don't buy this or anything from this company (Macware), you will never get any support or update. They just cheat people with old version.
We can profs this, it's bad and sad to see a Mac developer company work like this.

I just downloaded DiskTools Pro and it definitely is NOT working under Mac OS 10.8 on my iMac. At least i paid only ten bucks for the application on sale. I am not very happy with Macware or its products, especially this one.

Yes, but where can you download 3.8 from?
I have 3.6, It runs but occasionally just aborts

Where do I get v 3.8? I have 3.6 and when I check for updates it says it's the current version.

I bought this with the explicit understanding it was going to work with Lion shortly. Let me point out that, with the length of the delay, this appears to be a fraudulent claim. Can I get my money back?

Tom: i have the same remarks.
I've send a e-mail to moc.erawxcam|troppus#moc.erawxcam|troppus but got no answer.
Macxware should be banned.

Tom,
I apologize for the delay in the Lion update. The lead developer ran into a family emergency, and then 10.7.2 was just released and we had to run it back through testing once more. We should be about 1-2 more weeks max on delivery of the update.
Thank you,
Jason Hogrefe

Allowing for 14 days to pass from October 20, that would mean DiskTools Pro should have shipped November 3. It is now 27 days past that "max" promised date. RoaringApps, Macware, and Maczot (who sold me this) were all part of this transaction.
Note that Maczot has a no-return policy… so I am out my money.
Everything stated here is fact: Potential buyers should take this into account prior to making further purchases.
This is a shame: I was a huge Disktools Pro fan… it was a great utility. I am sad to see it apparently die this way.

It is a crime that they haven't brought out an upgrade, and I bet they make us buy it also!
[ joelw135]joelw135Anonymous 15 Dec 2011 22:16
I just received the following email from MacWare: The developer had a personal emergency and a free upgrade will be ready by the end of this month.
order of DiskTools Pro - Same issue BobGBobGAnonymous 23 Dec 2011 18:31
Agree. It has been since Nov 17th with promise to fix, no response from tech support, and no response from SmithMicro. What a sham, and agreement that it is a situation where fraud is being executed.

I understand if people have emergencies. You can't control that, and I hope that everything is fine with them and their family. However I am concerned that there is no contingency plan for the loss of employees in cases such as this. If the President of macware Inc. were to suddenly leave the company or be rendered incapable of his or her job duties, macware Inc. would then suddenly have to fold and go out of business with this sort of business model.
Don't get me wrong, I really love DiskTools Pro and have recommended it as an application to others. Likewise the other software titles available from macware have definitely appealed to me. But part of my purchasing decision was based upon the fact that a OS X 10.7 Lion update would be available shortly. Since that has not come about, as well as missed deadlines have also occurred, I don't have faith anymore in macware as a vendor. As such I've either held off on other purchases, or have sought out other vendors entirely.

I too have used this program for several years and been happy with it. One of the hold offs to upgrading to Lion was because this was not yet usable. After this amount of time it would seem to me that either there would be a for certain "not going to happen" statement or a realistic and honest explanation. So now I am looking to scrap this program and cross over to Disk Tools Pro or Drive Genius. Just sorry to have to give up on Macware!

I wrote to support yesterday and they just sent me a link to what looks like an installer for version 3.6.59; I'll have to see if this one works with Lion or not (I don't have access to my Mac right now…)
[ Rene Rosendahl]Rene RosendahlAnonymous 21 Jan 2012 22:17
Okay, that didn't work, so I emailed them again and got a download URL for version 3.8. That version seems to work properly on Lion (I haven't tested all the features yet, though)!
