This is the second title in the The Sims series of games. The Aspyr port of the game itself is a UNIVERSAL app not a PPC. Check "Get Info" doubters! However the installer is a PPC app and won't work. Will only install via Migration Assistant from a backup such as Time Machine. Body Shop will not work either being a PPC app.

If you have a Time Machine backup of the Sims 2 it will indeed run on Lion. However you can't install it from the DVD. The installer won't work. I just got a new iMac that came pre-installed with Lion and used Migration Assistant with a Time Machine Backup from SL. Sims 2 runs beautifully!

Contrary to what so-called "Apple Tech Support" says, The Sims 2 is configurable to run under Mac OS X Lion. Though the installer and the original distribution of the app are both 32-bit PPC apps, the updated versions are compatible as Universal apps. The same applies to the expansion packs, each of which was eventually updated with a Universal app version. If you can, install the software using Snow Leopard on a computer (or dual-boot as I do), patch the games to their latest version, and then move it into Lion. I've had no problems as of yet, with all expansion packs installed.

You can open the package contents and open the .pkg to install it.

This does NOT run on Lion!! It is a Power PC application and is therefore not supported, despite what the site says.
