This is the fifth title in the Command & Conquer series of games. On some Macs never loads past the launch screen when opened in Lion.

1.08 works fine under 10.7.4 . Version 1.09 not tested.

Screen flicker in 10.8 and 10.7.5 , can be made to work by editing config file .

Screen flicker is only in full screen mode. It is still playable in windowed mode. To edit the config file to change to Windowed mode, do this:

To set the game to Windowed mode, perform the steps listed below:
1. From the Finder menu, open the Go menu.
2. Select Home.
3. Open the Library folder.
4. Open the Preferences folder.
5. Open the folder for the game being played.
6. Right-click the Config file and select Open with.
7. Select the text Editor in the list.
8. Scroll down and look for the section listed [sdldrv].
9. Find the entry ?Fullscreen? = ?1?.
10. Change it to read ?Fullscreen? = ?0?.
11. Save and close the document.
12. Restart the game.

Sorry, forgot the Library is invisible in 10.8. Here are instructions to replace steps 1-3:

1. from the Finder, keystroke Shift-Command-G
2. Enter this path: ~/Library/
3. This should open your user library. The rest should be ok.

Hi Some Guy

Instead of that whole process, just hit Command Enter when in the game to switch to window mode.

EA Needs to fix this!!!

Same problem now applies to OS X Lion, latest updates have the same effect on the game as in Mountain Lion. Again Windowed Mode saves the day for now.

The following will remove the flicker in full window mode under Mac OS 10.8

1. Type SHIFT-COMMAND-G (or in Finder, pull "Go" menu down to "Go To Folder…")
2. Copy & Paste the following "~/Library/Preferences/Command and Conquer 3 Preferences" then hit "Go"
3. Right click on the file named 'config' and open it with TextEdit
4. Find the line "fbobackbuffer" = "Y" and change the "Y" to a "N"
5. Save the file and close the document.
6. Restart C&C3

Enjoy flicker-free C&C3 under Mac OS 10.8!

YES. I had this game working perfectly on my IMAC 27 for the last year. Last week I upgraded to Lion and now it won't launch. I'm dead in the water and no help anywhere. I've looked very hard and even emailed EA for a response. 4-days and no response.
