HardwareGrowler 1.2.2 has known issues on OS X 10.7.x. HardwareGrowler 1.3 will address these issues. Specifically, when your mac is put to sleep, when it wakes up then HardwareGrowler may crash.

Based on the code on pmetzger's repository, I've created a modified version that delivers notifications using Mountain Lion Notification Center instead of Growl.
Code can be found at: http://github.com/cirrusj/HardwareGrowler

I have HardwareGrowler 1.2.2 installed on a Macbook Pro and a MacMini. I installed Lion on both earlier this week. On the Pro the application blows up every time I wake it. I think it blew up on the Mini once as well, but I don't remember the circumstances and I haven't seen it again since I re-installed HardwareGrowler on both (but then I don't usually sleep the Mini).

The Growl guys had the fix but never released it. I've made a version of the HardwareGrowler that works on Lion available at https://bitbucket.org/pmetzger/growl/downloads
