in regard to Steven's question: I had 9.5 installed prior to upgrading to 10.7.2. Acrobat crashes when attempting ClearScan OCR.

I had 9.5 installed and running perfectly fine with Snow Leopard AND Lion (after upgrading the OS). I had to install a new HD, after I transferred everything over with migration assistant, Acrobat Pro quit working.
After hours of working the Adobe "support" (it's criminal to even call it that), I found out that the activation process for Acrobat Pro 9 was not supported with Lion. They would not clarify if the actual application would work, they kept repeating that the activation process was not and that I needed to upgrade to Acrobat Pro X if I wanted to continue to use it.

Clearscan OCR on 10.8.0 crashed Acrobat 9.5.1 Professional. My Mac Pro 4,1 system was upgraded from 10.6.8, where OCR functioned perfectly.

Acrobat Pro 9 NOT supported with ML.
I just installed Mountain Lion on my mid-2009 MacBookPro.
Adobe Acrobat Pro encountered a problem: "AA was enable to install a necessary component and must quit".

To run Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 on Mountain Lion (ML) without any trouble: Do a clean install of Snow Leopard (or Lion), install CS5, then upgrade to ML !

Works perfect. After a clean install of ML I had no problems with installing CS4 and Acrobat 9 Pro, could install all updates to 9.5. Wonder why it should not.

I have a brand new iMac(i know-so exciting) and uploaded the CS5.5 and Acrobat. After much screwing around, still cannot get acrobat to work…any suggestions? It updates the files, then says there's something wrong with an earlier version.

I had Adobe Acrobat 9.5.2 installed before I upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion and it still works perfectly with Mountain Lion.

After reading the above, plus other info I uninstalled Acrobat Pro 9.5.2, reinstalled from the disk (Pro 9) wen through the whole process of getting back up through 9.1,9.2,9.3, etc. etc. as each requires the preceding version (15 versions in all!!!) and Acrobat still crashes when attempting to use ClearScan with 10.7.5.

I was able to install version 9.0 and update to 9.1.0 but when I try updating any other patches, the installed browses to Acrobat in the Applications folder but Acrobat is grayed out and will not allow me to manually update? Check for updates in the Help drop down is not an option.
I, too, ran into this, but whenever I did, I found that I was trying to skip a 9.1.x or 9.2.x update. That is… I got off of the Adobe site and just kept googling for the next update. e.g.. in your example, I googled for "Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro 9.1.2" That would then give me some links to where I could download that update…. whenever I approach it in this manner, the greyed out .app file turned black and I was able to launch the upgrade. Don't skip even one 9.x.x update and tell me how it goes for you.

Thank you for the information. I did exactly as you explained except that I did sequential updates through 9.4.5 and used the Help pull down for 9.4.6. I was careful not to miss even one.

Installation with "sequential" updates as described above works, and most features seem to run fine.
But trying to OCR with ClearScan causes it to crash (Acrobat 9.4.6 and Lion 10.7.2) :(

I'm having the same issue with ClearScan OCRs and Acrobat 9.5.0 and Lion 10.7.2. ClearScan does not appear to be 10.7.2 compatible. Anyone able to get it to work?
All other OCR combos work just fine.

Yeah… I was hoping they'd fix this in the 9.5.0 update… but they didn't. They must know it's a problem. I figure they're trying to drive sales to Acrobat X :( Funny thing is, it worked before 10.7.2

Most of this thread speaks about updating issues. I'm running 9.5.0 on my Snow Leopard drive (10.6.8) and about to upgrade to Lion so 9.5 already be on my drive. No updating for Acrobat needed.
I'm not clear. If you have 9.5 on your drive before you upgrade to Lion, will 9.5 work?
Sorry if I'm being dense or missed comments that speak to my question.
