I just upgraded to mountain lion and after doing so mac mail would instantly crash without ever opening. I have a strong suspicion this is due to letter opener not being compatible.
Doesn't work in 10.8
Works fine in 10.7
I'm putting the finishing touches on the all-new RoaringApps, with support for Mavericks & iOS 7.
Try it out now and help me squash some bugs.

This is the developer's only listed app.
Supports iCloud
Secured by Gatekeeper
Supports retina graphics
Some people still use Outlook. And whenever they send you something like an attachment or appointment, it shows up in your Mail with a winmail.dat file attached. (Ugh.)
But Letter Opener seamlessly converts all types of Outlookâs irksome winmail.dat files. (Hooray!)

Agreed!
"Mail has disabled the following Plugin:

Is there a newer version of Letter Opener, as Faizal writes, Mountain Lion (OS 10.8 ) disabled my version of Letter Opener which was upgraded not too long ago

go to http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/22614/letter-opener/ and down load v 5.0 and license. Your set

LetterUser's comment above is correct. A newer version than 5.0.0 (950) is needed to work with Mountain Lion. I get the same error.
