Version 8.1.2 has difficulty with large event folders with thousands of photos. It just has a spinning beach ball when you try to manage them. I'm having to totally ignore the events section altogether on my iMac 5,1.
Works fine on iMac 11,2 with Lion 10.7.3, but once again fails to work at all in Mountain Lion.

Version 7.1 (347) of iPhoto works in Lion 11a494a - I have not had an opportunity to test the Events issue I have in version 8.1.2.
