Fruitz of Dojo have created a very elegant Quake II Mac OS X port. You'll need it to actually run Quake II.

Ideally, you'll want to get a copy of a working Quake II installation, since you'll need the baseq2 folder and pak files.

App released as a Universal Binary.

Unknown if it works with 10.7.

Having problems myself. Removed the Config file and started it up.
File recreated config file, but still shut down and stated the same thing.
What should I do?

got it working by:
1) deleting the baseq2/config.cfg file
2) running quake ii.app for it to create another config.cfg
3) editing the new config.cfg and modifying the set vid_fullscreen "1" to 0
4) running quake ii.app and applying new video settings (opengl, full resolution, fullscreen, etc)

Thanks for the info, David. Worked a treat.

You will also need to set

set _windowed_mouse "1"

in config.cfg if you want the mouse controls to work.

I followed David's instructions and got it to work on my mac mini with Lion. I set it to a high resolution and opengl. It looks and sounds very nice.

However I can't figure out how to move the window. Clicking on the title bar puts me back in the game. Any ideas?
