The Kindle app gives users the ability to read Kindle books on a beautiful, easy-to-use interface. You’ll have access to over 810,000 books in the Kindle Store, including best sellers and new releases. Amazon Whispersync automatically syncs your last page read, bookmarks, notes, and highlights across devices (including Kindle), so you can pick up where you left off on another device.

Recommended to get the app directly from Amazon to have latest version that works on ML.

The latest version 1.10.1 downloaded from Amazon seems to work fine. No problems downloading books from my library, nor syncing highlights or bookmarks.

I had a problem with 1.10.1 crashing immediately I tried 3 times to no avail, then reinstalled 1.10.1 from amazon, tried 2 more times, and it finally opened and stayed open

Mark W, where on the Amazon site did you download that Kindle reader 1.10.1?

Thanks,
Karen

I can't sync Kindle app, even after reinstalling.

But we changed our firewall today, so not certain it's a Lion issue.

Tested on another machine/network. Same problem - you can read books that are already local, but can't reach amazon over the network.

I can confirm that scenario. Can't reach Amazon over the network but can read local books.

Same here; can't sync or download new content. Tried disabling firewall and everything.

Also tried deleting the Kindle app and downloading the App Store version. It goes through the install process, and when it looks like it's about done, Launchpad closes. Upon reopening it, Kindle has disappeared, and App Store reverts to thinking it's not installed.

The app store version definitely works 'better' in my experience. I couldn't register my device using the one off Amazon's website, but I've had no problems since uninstalling that and putting the App Store version on instead.

If I hadn't seen these other comments, I'd have changed the status to 'works', honestly.

I'd definitely say though 'Red if you use the version from Amazon, green if you use App Store'. IMHO.

Deleting the version downloaded from Amazon and installing from the App Store solved the "can't sync or download new content" issue for me.

Even after downloading it front the App Store, this app only worked fine for me after deleting the ~/Library/Application\ Support/Kindle folder and ~/Library/Preferences/com.amazon.Kindle.plist preference file.

The solution to this problem is to do a Spotlight search for all things Kindle and delete them all, even your library of downloaded books. Then download the Kindle app from the App Store, not the Amazon site, and register. Everything will be fine in terms of synching again, but of course you'll need to download books from your archive again.

I want to transfer files from my kindle for mac to my kindle via usb. But I can't find the files for anything I download after installing Lion. Finder shows nothing. I have all the books I downloaded when I used SL.

Any ideas?

Thanks Robert, that worked for me. Easy enough to download titles again, although a bit of a pain when you have a large library!

Everything looks just a s good as before, with no glitches or weird behaviour that I can tell of.
