After installing Mountain Lion on a new MB Pro, Outlook 1) fails to load, 2) starts loading then closes, 3) opens then freezes ("spinning beachball"). All states require Force Quit.

After installing Mountain Lion, Outlook became unbearably slow. Searching a folder can take minutes, during which period Outlook freezes. I never had these issues with Lion. Clearly Microsoft is wrong in stating that Office 2011 is compatible.

Outlook stopped working on MBPro early-2011, fine on iMAc and MacPro. Worked at first, then inexplicably started to refuse to launch (icon bounces once, Outlook banner quickly appears on screen, then disappears).

Does not work well.. its VERY VERY SLOW. Never seen an app be so slow on a mac before. Even just to do the most simplest task can take ages.

I had the same problem after upgrading my MBPro early-2011 to Mountain Lion. After reinstalling Office 2011, Outlook worked just once then went back to the same problem. I tried removing the file mentioned here (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3218041?start=0&tstart=0), but no joy.

What did work for me is rebuilding my Office identity using the Microsoft Database Utility (found in Applications->Microsoft Office 2011->Office folder). It will create a backup of the existing Main Identity and rebuilds it and becomes your new Main Identity. Haven't encountered the problem so far since then.

There's also a list of known issues for Outlook 2011 found here: http://mac2.microsoft.com/help/office/14/en-us/outlook/item/f14a9ab2-bb71-4104-bfba-57ceca090f06

People seem to claim that the slowness is mainly associated with Exchange accounts. In other words, if you're using Outlook for personal emails (gmail/yahoo etc) it may not be as slow. Can anyone speak on that?

Lion Developer Preview 2

Oulook 2011 does not launch. Executes, shows the dock icon and then quits automatically.

Outlook 2011 will launch and work for me in Lion DP 2, but replies do not fully work.

When I hit reply, it will grab the "From, Date, To, Subject" from the e-mail I am replying to, but it will not include the actual text from the e-mail. This is a major issue for me, as I live and breath in e-mail. Forwards do the same thing, but they do at least attach the attachments.

It's weird that it includes the header, but not the body.

Same for me. I deleted the identity after the update to Lion DP 2. Now it starts but the reply and search does not work …

Just downloaded SP1 for Office 2011 and it makes no difference. My investigation seems to indicate that outlook does not associate itself with the 'olk14msgsource' filetype which means it doesn't search them.

Replies DO work on plaintext messages, but not HTML.

After downloading DP2 Update, Outlook 2011 (+SP1) works fine.

Reply/ Forward now includes original email text.
Search works in Outlook as well as through Spotlight.

Outlook works fine for the most part but i am unable to change column widths in the email list - which is extremely annoying because the Name column is so big i cant see the date recieved column (it is off the end of the screen)
