Nikon Transfer 2.3.1 works fine in Mac OS 7 but needs to be downloaded with ViewNX 2. It is still an independent app and works just like 1.5.3 and ViewNX 2 can be ignored if you do not like it.

Seems nikon have no intention providing compatibility with Lion for this utility.
