3.2.6 can be installed but won't display xCode.app in /Developer.
4.0.1 installer can be downloaded from the Mac App Store but won't install, stating that another version is needed for Mac OS 10.7 Lion

Dev. Preview 4.1 works fine naturally.

I guess 3.2.6 is not supported on Lion if it won't even install the Xcode application.
I am surprised that 4.0.1 doesn't install. I thought that was made for Lion.
4.1 works fine yet it is only a preview. :)

Xcode 3.2.x if installed in Snow Leopard before upgrading to Lion, it appears to work and you will be able to compile and use interface builder. I haven't tested it extensively enough, so I can't really say.

Tested XCode 3.2.x on Lion GM and it appears to work fine with a few problems (compile, debugging, interface builder, instruments)… but you won't be able to install it within Lion without some hacking or using Pacifist.

For interface builder, you need to launch it first before editing any files as it will bring up a "Carbon" exception. Removing the carbon IBPlugins from the Interface Builder Plugins folder will do the trick.

Xcode 4.0.2 doesn't work on Lion, Xcode 4.1 is now available from App Store, for free (?!)

see that forum thread for more details : https://devforums.apple.com/message/491068

When Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion Xcode 3.2.6 seems to work fine as far as compile, and build, but the debugger seems to dies immidiately. Has anyone been able to successfully debug in Lion using XCode 3.2.6?

I have a Macbook Pro with Lion. I have Xcode 4.1 installed. I downloaded the Xcode 4.2 update from the App Store. The download completed but when I tried clicking the Install Xcode, it just displays a question mark. It's not running and I can't find it in Finder in /Applications or /Developer. There's a problem with the update..
