The version lists Dr. Jeffrey T. Frey because his site is where the port of minicom v2.2 to Mac OS X is found. Minicom was written by Miquel van Smoorenburg 1991-1995 with some additions by Jukka Lahtinen 1997-2000 and i18n by Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo 1998.

you have to run /opt/minicom/2.2/bin/minicom -s and configure your serial interface.
