HP says they will release a full software update in "Fall 2012". In the meantime they have posted this KB article on how to keep scanning in 10.8. I haven't tried it yet but will be soon (once I have my Snow Leopard partition setup).

Does not work with HP Laserjet 1536 dbf MFP. It worked fine in 10.7 and has slowed to a crawl in 10.8. Will complete a scan after 4 minutes but that is completely unacceptable!

My HP Photosmart Plus B-209a works fine on the same system. Go figure???

This software broke after both of the last two OSX upgrades and in both cases it took HP a very long time to release a compatible update. Based upon prior experience, it is highly likely that the HP software will be broken after the upgrade and that HP will take forever to fix it.

Works just fine with a Photosmart C3180 All-in-One. So, I would say yes… it seems to work, miraculously.

Hp scan does not work anymore with Lion ("no computer detected"). Still usable through system preferences. Lion is not referenced at Hp.com.

You can also use the Preview app (use File, import from scanner, -network connections-)

I'm having the same error, can you explain how to import from scanner? You said use file, import from scanner, but in what program are you doing this? As soon as I open HP Scan 3 on my computer it has an error.
