AJA System test has not worked for me with Lion GM.

Confirmed: Does not work on internal hard disk (with FileVault 2 whole disk encryption).

It seems to work with external USB drives.

The problem is simply that AJA System Test tries to create a test drive in the root directory, where normal users have no permission to write (and rightly so).

While this may have been fine ten years ago, with Mac OS Classic, this is not the way to do it on a modern UNIX OS.

The application should be changed to write to a properly allocated temporary directory in /tmp, which will be cleaned upon the next reboot should the application crash.

As of this writing AJA System Test is NOT compatible with Lion due to permission changes. Sidestepping this issue is not recommended as it may cause serious security vulnerabilities or unknown effects in the root permission structure.

It is thus recommended that this application version not be used with Lionuntil the developer releases a Lion compatible version. Alternatively, the Blackmagic Disk Speed Test may be used. (Freeware, App Store)
