I've just had a disaster: I bought a new 2012 Mac Mini (i7) to replace my Apple TV3, installed Plex and BANG! - it sent a peak signal to my AV amp (expensive Pioneer LX73) and blew it. Plex keeps freezing, no metadata, and iTunes won't quit without sending peak signals to the sound processor.

Also, it keeps (every 5 seconds) displaying numbers to establish a bluetooth connection to my wireless Apple keyboard (which is already connected). These are major issues! The Pioneer is now in for a 2 week repair and the Mac Mini is being returned to Apple on Monday.

Before it finally blew my amp, I even tried a factory reset then a complete reinstall of Plex. But it didn't solve anything.

Anyone out there with similar issues? I'm completely gutted. Help!!

Lion (10.7) Comments

I copied over the Plex and Plex Media Centre folders to 10.7 from my 10.6.7 system.

The media centre works but doesn't stream to my iPhone like the old system. Plex.app doesn't work though.

I'll try a fresh install and a fresh re-meta-tag marathon *shrugs*

Plex.app and Media Server install fine on a fresh Lion install. Both open first time. Plex.app is flawlass but Media Server wont scrape metadata or pictures/fanart.

Streaming to iOS Plex app is also fine (embedded subtitles too).

Plex and PMS work fine after clean Lion install and Time machine backup (iMac Core2Duo). PMS scraps TV and movies metadata with no issue and streams fine to AppleTV2 and Mac Mini (Core Duo & 10.6.8) with Plex client.

Upgraded my unibody c2d Mini from 10.6.8 - Plex was already setup with a library on an external drive.

I mainly wanted the upgrade so I could ScreenShare in as myself while Plex was playing back movies on another user account ('media'), so I could do housekeeping duties etc without disrupting others viewing pleasure. (In Snow Leopard, if I screenshare in, I just see the movie…)

Plex freezes often when I connect in this way. Not sure if a clean install would help.

Addendum to above - I went ahead and did a clean install, still experiencing the freeze issue when using ScreenSharing to connect as a different user.

After upgrading to MAC OS X 10.7 (Lion), PMS is not able to get metadata. Plex works flawlessly.

Lion broke my Plex!

Plex installs and loads fine but media server won't launch at all. I've reinstalled and gone thru all the system preferences. Nothing will make it open.

It did bounce on the dock a few seconds before disappearing on first run.

I went to library>applicationsupport>plex media server but there isn't anything I can execute in there.
