Overall it seems to work, but I've notices that the save command is very slow (was with -append command).
Works fine in 10.8
Works fine in 10.7
I'm putting the finishing touches on the all-new RoaringApps, with support for Mavericks & iOS 7.
Try it out now and help me squash some bugs.

As of Matlab R2011a (7.12), Lion (Mac OS X 10.7) is supported. See http://www.mathworks.com/support/sysreq/roadmap.html and http://www.mathworks.com/support/sysreq/current_release/macintosh.html)
R2011a (7.12) also works fine on Mountain Lion as of DP2. However, X11 is no longer included in the system and has to be installed for Matlab to work.

Starts nice. does code. but shuts down without further notice when I open a figure and plot ..
[ Christian]ChristianAnonymous 22 Jul 2011 06:49
I observed the plotting problem with version 7.4 though..

10.6.8 introduced a problem with Matlab 2011a which caused it to crash frequently when doing even simple things such as cutting and pasting data in variables or renaming variables. I understand that for earlier versions of Matlab the problem was associated with plotting. Apparently it is a JAVA issue. Does 10.7 use the same JAVA version as 10.6.8? The problems are likely to remain.

I have the same problem with plotting in MATLAB 7.4. Do you have any suggestions as to which Java package I would have to install to make plotting work again?
Thanks in advance
Matt

same stuff, matlab crash on OS X Lion very often.
I start to be little be scared (this is the first time with matlab) ot that
[ Mike]MikeAnonymous 05 Sep 2011 14:57
I think you can switch from "some problems" to "lot of crashes"
[ Matt]MattAnonymous 06 Sep 2011 15:51
Same issues. Matlab 2008, and plotting no longer works.

The only problems I have encountered has to do with Simulink. Same problem with both R2011a and R2011b. Installing XQuartz (http://xquartz.macosforge.org/) solved the problem!
Download the latest version. For me it was 2.6.3 (same version as the included X11.app in Lion). Click the link for XQuartz-2.6.3.dmg for Snow Leopard (nevermind that) and install. Remember to Log out and Log in to allow for Mac OS X to link XQuartz.app as the default over X11.app.

Matlab 2011a constantly crashes. Seems to happen randomly. Not necessarily linked to plotting. Sometimes just crashes when idle. Same happend with R2009b. I updated for that reason but nothing changed.

Same problem here: Matlab 2011a crashes randomly and frequently with Lion 10.7.1.
I don't notice a conclusive trend for what causes the crashes, but often it happens when I switch between documents in the editor window; but has also happened when doing other things, so I'm not sure if's caused by the editor.

I have not installed Lion yet for the reasons above, but to be fair I noticed the Matlab 2011a and 2011b keeps crashing with no reason under Snow Leopard. This started earlier this year. I went back to using 2010b. Crashes were of similar nature (seemingly random). I always make a point of sending a crash report to TMW.

As I mentioned above Matlab 2011a crashes frequently and randomly with Lion 10.7.1, about every 15 minutes or so during normal use.
Since others have reported the same, I suggest updating the status from "some problems" to something more severe.
Does anyone know whether the problems persist with 2011b?
[ gunz]gunzAnonymous 15 Nov 2011 15:45
I just updated to Lion 10.7.2 and my Matlab 2011a is not crashing, but it doesn't allow to connect to SQL db… Just another feature is guess….
