Hello, Thank You SO MUCH for your work and info.

I still have a doubt, can I install Maya 2011 in my Lion 10.7.2 (11C74) ? or its better to instal the Maya 2012 Sp1 ? and can we use V-Ray or Mental Ray with them without problems?

I dont want to mess anything in the mac, so, I havent install any 3D software and started to check in internet which programs works fine on Lion and in the process I find that many, MANY people said that Macintosh is not suitable for 3D process and much less if you have Lion even Snow Leopard.

Im really worried about this and I dont know if this is true or not. Hope not. I will wait for RoaringApps answer.

Thanks again for your great help and sorry for the trouble.

I still cant find any concrete information on Maya running on Lion or Mountain Lion. It is my primary software, and if it can't run properly, I can't upgrade. I'm still on Snow Leopard

Maya 2012 SP2 and 2013 Works in Lion for sure, if you go to Autodesk site you can see that it is approve.
MT I do not know, there is nothing official yet, My bet is that Maya 2013 SP2 will work in the future.

Maya 2011 works on Mountain Lion so far. Lighting, animation and mental ray rendering seems fine… these are first impressions, though - not certain that it will stand the test of time. The official stance from Autodesk is that it is not supported.

If you're using Maya for hobby-work or some spare-time stuff and you want Mountain Lion, go ahead.

If you rely on Maya for employment and don't want to migrate to 2012/2013… don't upgrade the OS. Snow Leopard is a perfectly fine edition, you aren't missing out on very much.

I'm not having issues with it so far. Maybe elaborate on why it was marked as "doesn't work"?

Running:

MacBook Pro 17" early 2011 (Thunderbolt)

Can we run Maya 2011 and Maya 2012 ? Which version is working better on Lion?

I just added the MentalRay rendering engine issue. It's also a little bit less stable from previous OS's, but I have a feeling it'll be fixed for release.

I read that Lion was supposed to support OpenGL 3.2…

The only issue I had is the installation, which shows that the OS is to "new" and seems that the installer didn't work. But the launchpad shows the Autodesk folder which contains some apps, and Maya seems work fine.
