Has anyone tried Rosetta Stone v4 (any version), with Mountain Lion? I use it regularly, and will wait on the update if it isn't working. I use a line in mic, so problems with the build it aren't a concern for me.

I have TOTALe 4 v4.1.15 and it works fine in 10.8. I recall people having to work with the tracking.db3 file in OSX.

STONE VER 4 WITH MOUNTAIN LION LORLORAnonymous 17 Oct 2012 23:57

I KEEP GETTING SERVER REROUTED TOO MANY TIMES WHEN I TRY TO LOG ON TO ROSETTA STONE TOTAL E. I CAN'T GET IT TO WORK. COMCAST SAYS SINCE IT IS THE ONLY ONE I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH AND THEIR WEBSITE IS THE PROBLEM.

I just upgraded to Moutain Lion and now it won't recognize my microphone…not a usb or internal microphone. Rosetta is stumped. Aaargh. Anyone know what to do?

I was unable to get this app functioning in 10.8.2 Mountain Lion (software version 3.4.5). The app would launch without issue and all my data seemed correct, but when any kind of USB headset was plugged in, I couldn't even get past the Microphone setup that occurs when starting a session.

I tried all of the suggestions on this screen (soundflower + linein, two apps I know well are great), tried a clean install of the application, but if there is a USB mic/headset plugged in, it freezes up at the Mic setup.

Does it work or not? The rating is doesn't work, but in the notes, it says "no problems so far".

I can confirm Version 2 of Rosetta Stone Language Learning does not work with Lion.

Is there a 4.0.22 version of Rosetta Stone??

[ corven]corvenAnonymous 21 Jul 2011 20:45

mine is version 3 and it is working, but it can't detect the built-in microphone, any solution?

I have version 3 as well and it's not recognizing the built in mic either. Just upgraded to Lion this morning.

Version 3 here too, it's not detecting the in built mic.

Try using a combination of the free app LineIn and the other free app Soundflower. In LineIn, choose Internal Microphone as the Input and Soundflower (2ch) as the output.

Next, in the Rosetta Stone preferences, choose Soundflower (2ch) as the input. It should work.

thanks joey, just tried that combo, works perfect :-)

version 3. no input devices show in the microphone list. Tried the sunflower/linein combo, but still nothing shows in the microphone list. Pretty big bummer. Any ideas?

http://www.rosettastone.com/global/support/system-requirements claims Lion compatibility for both 3 and 4. If this isn't true, then contact them. That's why we pay the big bucks, right?

Also, maybe http://support.rosettastone.com/ics/support/KBAnswer.asp?questionID=8040 provides a solution?

Rosetta Stone has this knowledge base article. Check out the note at the bottom. http://support.rosettastone.com/ics/support/KBAnswer.asp?questionID=5995&hitOffset=152+81+77+68+26+21
Note: We are currently addressing compatibility issues with the Settings window on Mac OS X 10.7 Lion.

Rosetta Stone version 3 (3.4.5 - 23970) is working fine on my MBP 15 early 08.
No Adobe Air installed, just latest Flash player version. No problems with mic.
Lion was installed as an update.

[ thom]thomAnonymous 27 Jul 2011 18:53

So, just an update: I ended up reinstalling 3.4.5 two or three times, and now it seems to pick up the microphone just fine. Everything else works perfectly as well.

I suggest just reinstalling 3.4.5 once or twice, and hoping for the best. I'm also on a MBP 15" early 2008.

thom, are you on lion?

[ mark]markAnonymous 02 Aug 2011 02:15

Go to Rosetta Stone's site and download 3.4.5 for mac. Microphone works fine with this update.

[ migawa]migawaAnonymous 04 Aug 2011 01:50

mic of 3.4.5 doesn't work at first > install lineln (I don't need soundflower) > the mic work!

macbook air late 2010 with Lion.
sorry for my english.

[ DGGD]DGGDAnonymous 05 Aug 2011 07:53

I agree with Mark….fresh install of 3.4.5, and the internal mic is detected (OS X Lion, MacBook Pro 13" 2011).

I have 4.017 running on iMac. I see three options for Available Microphones, none of them pick up my audio during microphone setup.

[ Moose]MooseAnonymous 07 Aug 2011 12:51

Version 3.4.5 works fine for me using Lion on A MacBook Air (2011). Maybe it is time to update the program's status?

[ Nate]NateAnonymous 07 Aug 2011 14:10

Moose, it seems inconsistent. Some people can get V3 working. I've tried re-installing and other tricks for V4 with no luck. The only way I can use it is without speech recognition, which seems like a big downgrade.

When I upgraded to Lion the program wasn't working, after the first Lion update (10.7.1) Rosetta Stone works magically

[ David Shaw]David ShawAnonymous 30 Aug 2011 18:47

all elements work bar speech recognition, which is kind of essential!

Version 3.4.5 clean install works just fine (also with speech recognition) on a new MacBook Pro with OS X Lion 10.7.2.

[ Donald]DonaldAnonymous 05 Jan 2012 00:15

Version 3.4.5, clean install. Lion 10.7.2 works great now.

Microphone is fully operational.
