I have EyeTV 3.5.4 (6786) and Lion 10.7.2 on a new mac mini server with a 310 sat receiver and a DTT usb. EyeTV has become very unstable and crashes regularly - especially if live tv is being recorded when we watch a recorded show. I love EyeTV but I am getting asked for alternatives….

@Gerry: Had severe audio/osx crashes with EyeTV 3.5.4 (6786) and Lion 10.7.3 with EyeTV Sat. I have resolved by Lion clean install via Recovery Partion and additionally setting Deinterlace to to progressive scan for both Standard and HDTV. Seems stable now.

sometimes had an issue with eyetv opening all recordings into play mode. So I had twenty movie windows playing simultaneously (more or less). Happens after a reboot and the restart of eyeTV. Maybe this is because of the changed behavior of 10.7. where the system opens formerly opened docs again. Does not make sense for eyeTV. Hope it gets fixed soon.

OK Eye TV 2.5.3 running on 10.6.8. The Elgato Eye TV 3 does not work and it's becoming a frustrating process. So will my DTT stick work with v3? how do I upgrade, why isn't technical support better? Sort it out guys, an upgrade should not be this painful.

EyeTV DTT 3.5.5 loses many, if not all channels when backup drive is plugged into the Firewire 800 port. This happens with Lion 10.7.4 and Mountain Lion 10.8. Unmounting the drive does not cure the problem. EyeTV only starts work normally again when the Firewire lead is disconnected.

On both by 2008 MacBook Pro and 2010 iMac, EyeTV isn't working with the built-in optical (Digital Out) sound. The error I get is: "EyeTV didn’t manage to acquire the digital audio output (0x77686f3f).". Anyone else with this problem?

eyetv (and iTunes!) seems broken with latest 10.6.8 update:
no sound if you have previously read an Hd stream (be it dtv channel or iTunes / PLEX movie).
Apple bug is opened since mid-july.
I guess this will not be resolved soon in SL, and not in Lion before next update if they share the same sound codebase…

EyeTV works fine on my 2011 iMac, however in the old Spaces I had it selected to be open in "all spaces". I have selected the same option in Lion, by right clicking on the EyeTV icon in the dock and selecting Options and All Desktops, however EyeTV doesn't open in all desktops.

Installed EyeTV 3.5.3 on a freshly installed Lion (no upgrade) and agreed to install the EyeTV upgrade right after the 3.5.3 installation. My EyeTV Sat didn't find any channels, neither by auto-tuning nor manually. I tried several times. EyeTV couldn't be quit, only killed.

Deinstalled (moved to trash), rebooted, installed 3.5.3 again and now auto-tuning finds loads of channels.

I just installed EyeTV 3.5.3 on a brand new Mini running Lion. I didn't have any setup problems whatsoever. The installation went smoothly, it found my HDHomeRun tuner, found all the channels, etc. However, recorded TV shows are jumpy during playback, and it gets worse when another show is being recorded at the same time. I didn't have any problems like this with my old Mini running Snow Leopard. The new Mini has a much faster processor, and the hard drive should at least be comparable in speed (both are 5400 RPM drives). Not sure what is going on here…

Installed today on my iMac fresh build of Lion and no issue. I'm using 2x Elgato Hybrid tuners. Was able to tune, get schedule, edit previously recorded shows and export. Able to watch 2 shows live with one recording, 1 show converting to stream and streaming one to an iPad. I still love my EyeTV!!

when playing flash video in web browser and the launching eyetv, audio on both is knocked out and the only solution is to restart computer to restore audio. I have a macbook late 2008 with Lion and the latest flash updates from adobe and problem still occurs as of August 14, 2011.

I have had a long term problem with EyeTV using Digital output. Sometimes another device has taken control of the sound and hasn't surendered it, so no sound out. This problem has existed for several years, and appears to be a hardware issue. Other times digital sound will work for a long time, then abruptly the computer will crash. I have learned to treat digital sound with caution.

Is the old 2.5.3 version of Eyetv compatible with Mac OS Lion (10.7)??

My current 2.5.3 version stopped working after I upgraded to Lion. Why is that?

Don't tell me I have to purchase Eyetv 3 for using Eyetv with Lion?!

As stated by PierMAC above, I find that while EyeTV 3.5.3 works fine under Lion, attempting to view data from my iPad via the EyeTV app will crash the EyeTV on my Mac. Note that I can log in and view the schedule from the iPad - it only causes EyetTV to crash when I try to view any program. I found the same thing happening under 7.0 and 7.1.

It seems the 'compact' feature for editing out ads no longer works. When I select it after marking all the cut regions, nothing happens! I'm on a new Mac mini with 10.7.1, EyeTV 3.5.3.

Version 2.5.3 doesn't work.

New iMac i7 running Lion 10.7.2 - old EyeTV 500 (with version 1 of the software) is incompatible but, luckily for me (I thought), a friend gifted me an EyeTV Hybrid with version 2.3 software. Unfortunately, I can't set up either the Hybrid or my old 500; the software blanks at "now connect your EyeTV" (the next button remains greyed out) and I cannot proceed. So far, Elgato's technical support has been unhelpful, after updating to version 2.5.3 just suggesting that "You may need to upgrade to version 3" (and pay the upgrade fee, of course).
