I´m so sorry to have provided inacurate information. I meant the latest beta of FF 5.

Just to straighten everything out, 4.0.1 is the latest stable version of Firefox currently.

Pretty much useless on Lion - crashes often and hard

Firefox 5 is completely useless on Lion GM. The more it is open it seems, the more it crashes.

Absolutely ZERO issues with FF5. Those having problems should check for incompatible plugins.

The Firefox team have acknowledged a known issue with FF 5.0 and Lion, regarding sites which use rendered fonts (e.g.: Typekit font rendering).

I've encountered this issue every few minutes with both FF 5.0 and 5.0.1 on Lion, rendering it unusable for me.

Firefox 5.0.1 seems to work fine in Lion with one noted (and annoying) exception. The two finger swipe gesture to navigate through web pages no longer works. I suspect Firefox needs to be updated with the new commands for Lion. Hope this happens soon…

firefox 5.0.1 on lion was rendering incorrectly, using 95% + of the cpu and crashing/not responding.

I cleared all personal data (cache, etc) and also ran in safe mode, this helped, but was not very usable (still very slow). I restarted (not in safe mode) and still had the slow downs and high memory usage. the app still does not run smoothly and many pages are not rendering images (gif & jpg) very well (stuttering, broken links)

the plug ins and add ons may or may not be the issue, but since I still had problems in safe mode, I am thinking it is not likely.

at this point, I am using chrome as my browser as it seems to run just fine on lion.

1) People upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion should expect crashes and other issues. If you want to avoid that, do a clean install instead of upgrading. On a clean Lion system, Firefox 5, 6 (beta) and 7 (aurora) run fine.

2) As for the compatibility, well… it works, but it's not really compatible, because it doesn't use the latest Apple technologies : fullscreen mode (on a new virtual desktop, and with the menu bar hiding like Safari), save current state on close and restore on launch, 2-fingers gesture to go back and forward… In sum, it's "barely" compatible.

Had to reinstall Firefox 5.0.1 after I upgraded to Lion. Would not display Facebook and other sites initially after upgrading. If you are having problems, simply reinstall Firefox 5.0.1

Firefox v6 crashes almost constantly, as well having an incredibly bogged down internet connection.

[ Jim]JimAnonymous 05 Sep 2011 22:28

Firefox 6 confused some networking issues. Its timing couldn't have been worse as it came out about the same time as 10.7.1. As it turns out the networking problems are Lion's (pages of discussion on Apple's forums). I did not stay on Lion long enough to evaluate Firefox because of the Lion's other issues.

Full Screen support is a feature, not a "problem". There is currently a distinct lack of anything here which says Firefox has any particular issues, aside from vague user error and coincidences with Apple patches coming out.
