BOINC version 7.0.31 CPU work units works fine, but GPU will not be detected even with compatible nVidia GPU and CUDA drivers installed. It will report missing GPU.

However, turning off 'automatic graphics switching' in the 'energy saver' section of system preferences (and rebooting) makes it all work.

same issue with 7.0.31 (which works fine on mountain Lion)…. but the issue
is simple - its the graphics switching..it borks up the CUDA driver system.

so just disable graphics switching (hey, you really only want to run BOINC when not on battery anyway ;-) ) in

system Preferences -> Energy Saver , turn off 'automatic graphics switching'

reboot, et voila - BOINC with GPU power again.

not sure whose bug this is - I expect its Apples as ALL GPU apps do the same :-|

If you already have BOINC installed then upgrade to Lion, you might get an error after rebooting about BOINC being unable to start due to a permissions issue.

The fix is simple: just reinstall BOINC
